Materials monitoring

ICP Materials carries out activities that aim to describe and evaluate long-term corrosion and soiling trends attributable to atmospheric corrosion.

These trends are monitored through “trend exposures” that evaluate the corrosion and soiling of selected materials during one, four and eight-year cycles, including samples of carbon steel, weathering steel, stainless steel, zinc, copper, aluminum, coil coated materials, limestone, and analysis of soiling of glass, limestone and marble.

The latest report includes the trend exposure during the period 2017-2021 External link, opens in new window.. Every few years a compilation report External link, opens in new window. is published, including the trends in pollution, corrosion, and soiling using data collected from 17 countries.
